Media in times of Corona – How media companies are using the crisis for innovation and a strong future

The first edition of #MTMdigitalks, the new online series of MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, focuses on how the media industry is dealing with the current Corona pandemic situation.

The demand for information and entertainment, especially on digital channels, has increased rapidly in recent weeks. Media companies are currently benefiting from rapidly growing digital reach. Media companies have responded impressively quickly and flexibly to their audiences' enormous need for new, targeted, and tailored information offerings with digital innovations. For media professionals, the coronavirus crisis has had the effect of rapidly driving forward innovative formats. Challenges such as plummeting advertising revenues and the transition to remote work are also forcing many media professionals to adapt their work structures, offerings, and revenue models within a very short space of time. This is a learning phase from which they can benefit even beyond the crisis and which can represent a major push towards sustainable future viability.

What can media providers do now to make this happen? What might the media business look like after the pandemic? What opportunities arise from this crisis, and how can the media industry handle it responsibly?

In a live stream on April 7, decision-makers from TV, print, radio, and online companies will present via video conference how the situation specifically presents itself for their companies and what learnings and solutions they have already been able to develop in this context.
