Witten Prize for Health Visionaries 2015 goes to Munich-based startup Glasschair

The TUM spin-off Glass chair receives the prize, worth 7,500 euros, for her commitment to promoting the mobility of physically disabled people.

As part of a project at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich, the initiators Dominik Schniertshauer, Shady Botros and Claudiu Leverenz developed a “hands-free” control of wheelchairs using only head movements and voice signals with the help of smart glasses.

Glasschair started in the winter semester of 2014/2015 as a student project at the Chair of Business Information Systems at the Technical University of Munich. Since September 2015, Glasschair has participated in the startup program KICKSTART from UnternehmerTUM part.

Mobile rescuers and Care Sharing self-help come in second and third place

The second-place emergency call app will receive 2,000 euros Mobile rescuersIn an emergency, the application alerts registered first responders in the immediate vicinity, thus helping to save lives.

The Care Sharing Self-Help supports family caregivers in organizing themselves and is honored with the special prize and 500 euros in funding.
