Europe's best ecosystem for deep-tech fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics will be located in the Munich region in the future. This ambitious goal is now also being supported by the federal program "EXIST Potentials."
The deeptech offensive is an initiative of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and UnternehmerTUM back, which together with the LMU Munich and the Munich University of Applied Sciences Want to support founding teams from other countries in launching successful deeptech startups in the Munich region
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has now announced the decision on the applications for the "EXIST Potentials" program. 142 universities will receive support over the next four years to promote spin-offs. A new goal in this round of the EXIST program is to position Germany as a global player in science-based start-ups.
Focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, additive manufacturing and sustainable mobility
In this area, TUM has been successful with its “TUM Global Deeptech Venture” concept. It is being implemented together with UnternehmerTUM Support high-potential startup teams from other countries to establish themselves in Munich to bring transformative technology developments to market-oriented implementation. The focus is on the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, additive manufacturing, and sustainable mobility.
“TUM Global Deeptech Venture” will specifically coach founders and connect them with TUM spin-offs and partners from industry, science, and politics.

Joint efforts on the European innovation metropolis
To develop Munich into a European innovation hub, TUM, Munich University of Applied Sciences, and LMU Munich have combined their "EXIST" concepts and developed the "Munich B2B Co-Creation Hub." With a focus on the UN's Sustainability Development Goals, this joint Munich program aims to proactively leverage regional synergies and attract international entrepreneurs.
