The European Startup Prize for Mobility was awarded in Brussels in mid-April. Two Munich-based companies were among the winners: Twaice received a gold award, and Blickfeld took home silver.
The awards ceremony, which took place on April 11 in Brussels and was also attended by the patron, HSH Prince Albert of Monaco, marked the end of the second edition of the European Startup Prize for Mobility, and the announcement of the 10 winners for 2019. Among them were two Munich-based startups.
“Response to the global challenges of mobility”
Funded by both the European Parliament and the European Commission, the programme aims to support European start-ups that are committed to cleaner, safer and more inclusive mobility concepts in Europe and around the world using technological and innovative solutions.
"We launched the European Startup Prize For Mobility in response to the global challenges facing mobility. This year's even higher number of participating startups in the field of mobility confirms our belief that Europe can play a leading role in innovation and fostering talent to improve the quality of life for all,"
explained Karima Delli, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism and leader of the initiative.
Twaice wins gold — Blickfeld awarded silver
The 10 winning startups will receive a silver award, a trip to Europe's five largest technology hubs to meet investors and future customers: EUSP New Mobility Summit in Brussels, Vivatech in Paris, ITS Europe in Brainport, New Mobility World in Frankfurt, and Smart City World Congress in Barcelona. Among the silver medal winners was the Munich-based startup Blickfeld represent.
Of the winners present at the awards ceremony, five were selected by a European jury of experts in the field of mobility. These five Gold Award winners will also have the opportunity to participate in a mentoring program with the Boston Consulting Group and the law firms Grimaldi Studio Legale and Parallel Avocats. The Gold Award winners include, among others: Twaice, another Munich representative in the top 10.
"The European Startup Prize For Mobility strengthens its position as a leading European program for accelerating mobility. With increasingly competitive participants seeking to develop solutions for collaboration with large corporations and public actors, the prize can help develop European champions who can bring added value to all stakeholders,"
so Joel Hazan, Managing Director of the Boston Consulting Group, Fellow of the BCG Henderson Institute and co-founder of the European Startup Prize for Mobility.
