The investor field in Germany is increasingly being played by the state. According to an analysis by the online platform Pitchbook Among the most active venture capital providers in Germany are three state investment funds: the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), the IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Bayern Kapital.
The state is gaining importance as a venture capital provider. According to the Online platform Pitchdeck Three state-owned investment companies are already among the top 11 VCs in Germany. The decisive criterion is the actual investments made by venture capitalists in German startups in the past year (2017). The HTGF has a total of 65 startup investments, placing it undisputedly in first place.
IBB follows in second place with investments in 24 companies. Bayern Kapital, with 16 investments, manages to reach sixth place.
