UnternehmerTUM launches Applied AI initiative

UnternehmerTUM is launching a new initiative on artificial intelligence together with the US technology group NVIDIA as a strategic partner. Together with other partners from all industries, the "Applied.AI" initiative will primarily advance the qualification of students and employees as well as the development of artificial intelligence application scenarios, for example, for autonomous systems in robotics and the automotive industry.

Through the “Applied.AI.” initiative of the UnternehmerTUM For the first time, companies, scientists, public institutions and young talents can work together on the further development of AI systems at the technology location in Garching. NVIDIA is contributing its expertise in the field of processor technology. Leading listed companies have already signed up as partners for the initiative, including Allianz, BMW, Giesecke & Devrient, Infineon, Linde, Munich RE, Porsche Consulting, SAP, Siemens, and Wacker Chemie.

Artificial intelligence in all industries

In addition, as part of the initiative, UnternehmerTUM offers training courses, online courses, and meetups in the field of artificial intelligence for anyone interested. The development of use cases, for example, for autonomous systems in robotics and the automotive industry and human-machine interactions, is also planned.

“We expect around 3,000 participants in the first year”

explained Andreas Liebl, project manager of the initiative, the intended goal.

“AI will not be a separate industry, but part of every industry,”

says Alex White, Vice President Enterprise Business EMEA at NVIDIA. He continued:

“NVIDIA’s leadership in AI computing will advance the Applied.AI initiative’s mission to help small and large companies embrace this transformative technology.”

According to a recent McKinsey study, AI systems could automate over 60 percent of all jobs in Germany alone. They have the potential to increase productivity by up to 1.4 percent annually.

“AI is the resource of the future,”

says Liebl, who accompanied the McKinsey study.

"We are therefore happy to share our knowledge with companies and startups that want to work on innovative AI solutions. In cooperation with our partners, we contribute our entire know-how and state-of-the-art technologies."
