WhatsBroadcast, Europe's leading provider of messaging services for companies in the field of end-customer communication, has successfully completed a Series A financing round. With five million euros, the Munich-based startup has recorded the largest European Series A investment in the messaging services and chatbot sector to date. Investors include Hightech Gründerfonds, Müller Medien, media + more venture, Wessel Management, and other well-known investors.
The core competence of WhatsApp Broadcast lies in messenger marketing, which has gained further popularity thanks to interactive chatbots. Today, several billion people already communicate daily via WhatsApp, WeChat, and Facebook Messenger. These new marketing channels enable companies to improve and, above all, directly engage with customers. WhatsBroadcast claims to provide the necessary infrastructure and the appropriate tools for this, thus establishing a direct line to customers in an efficient, scalable, high-performance, and data protection-compliant manner.
International business to be expanded
Since its founding in spring 2015, WhatsBroadcast claims to have supported 800 well-known companies – mostly from German-speaking countries, with a growing international clientele. Customers use the WhatsBroadcast service as part of a SaaS (Software as a Service) license and can manage messenger marketing, customer support, and chatbots via what the startup promises is a convenient browser interface.
“Messengers are currently the fastest-growing digital platforms and will soon replace websites, email newsletters and social media in the communication between companies and their target groups,”
so Franz Buchenberger, Managing Director of WhatsBroadcast.
“With this new investment, we want to strengthen our strong position in this area and continue to invest in our technologies, especially in the area of chatbots, as well as in the expansion of our international business.”
Potential billion-dollar market
Dr. Tanja Emmerling, Investment Manager at HTGF, says:
"WhatsBroadcast has experienced impressively rapid growth in recent months. The messaging sector is still in its infancy and has the potential to become a multi-billion dollar market in the coming years."
