The Munich startup TrustYou was acquired by the Japanese company Recruit Holdings for 100%. The guest feedback platform, based in the Munich Technology Center MTZ will continue to be managed by founders Jakob Riegger and Benjamin Jost. The sale price has not been disclosed.
For Benjamin Jost, CEO of TrustYou, the acquisition is an important milestone:
“We have carefully searched for a partner who will help us grow the world’s largest guest feedback platform while allowing us to run the company as independently as ever.
In particular, the Munich-based company wants to explore global market opportunities more intensively and expand further:
“In Recruit, we have found a partner who supports us with financial resources and expertise, giving us the impetus we need to continue growing—both organically and through further acquisitions.”
Since its founding in 2008, TrustYou has established itself in the travel industry with its review platform. The company currently employs around 130 people and, in addition to its headquarters in Munich, has offices in Romania, the USA, Singapore, and—since 2015—one in Japan. The platform collects and analyzes approximately 100 million reviews each year for hundreds of thousands of hotels worldwide.
Recruit, in turn, boasts a large portfolio of software companies from a wide range of industries. These include the US-based job search engine Indeed and the online reservation platform Quandoo.
“The unusual growth from a small startup to an internationally operating company is very impressive and we see great potential for further growth and expansion,”
Yoshihiro Kitamura, Head of Media and Solution Strategic Business at Recruit Holdings, explains his company's entry into TrustYou.
