LASER World of PHOTONICS 2017: Young and innovative

The leading trade fair for the industry will take place again at the end of June LASER World of PHOTONICS Many of the companies exhibiting at the fair were founded in the last 30 years. And new startups are constantly emerging. They will be in the spotlight of the Startup World and the Photonics Award — organized in cooperation with the Application Center GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). The Make Light MAKEATHON.

Stage clear for startups

Their ideas often break new technological ground. They take action where others hesitate and find direct ways to translate research findings into marketable products. Founders create innovation—and livelihoods for themselves and others. To appropriately honor their achievements, the LASER World of Photonics 2017, taking place from June 26 to 29 in Munich, will once again be a showcase for startups and their ideas!

On the Startup World Numerous companies from Germany and abroad will be represented in Hall B3.

A starter package has been specially designed for startups that are five years old or younger. This allows newcomers to participate in the world's leading trade fair for photonics components, systems, and applications with significantly reduced organizational and resource expenditure, and to present their ideas to an international expert audience.

Competition for the most innovative photonics ideas

In the course of the Startup World will be the final of the Photonics Award Founding teams from Switzerland and abroad will present their latest products and market-ready prototypes to a jury of experts. In the first final of LASER World of PHOTONICS 2015, two Swiss teams prevailed: the 3D microscopy startup Nanolive and the young company specializing in micro 3D printing Femtoprint SA. The search for the next award winners has been underway since the beginning of May. From the applications received, the jury will select the finalists in advance, who will present their ideas at the event.

Meet photonics talents at the Make Light MAKEATHON

Whether under the label "Internet of Things" or "Photonics 4.0," digital networking is one of the key drivers of innovation in the photonics industry. Photonics is both an enabler and a user. As Industry 4.0 progresses, the demand for photonics professionals will continue to grow.

The LASER World of PHOTONICS offers with the 24-hour Make Light MAKEATHON on 27 and 28 June offers an ideal opportunity to get to know photonics talents and the digitally savvy makers of tomorrow. This competition, which is held in cooperation with Make Light Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, students and young engineers compete to create prototypes from ideas. The event offers recruiters in Munich a lively addition to the Career Center, which, in cooperation with the consulting group Wirth + Partner, will once again bring together employers from the world of photonics with interested applicants.
