In the media, automotive, finance, and insurance industries, in mechanical and plant engineering, the energy sector, and healthcare—in fact, in all industrial sectors—we are observing a massive shift in innovation. Away from "not invented here" to a hybrid model that combines the strengths of corporate technology with the rapid pace of the startup world. The established industry is operating at a higher temperature. Corporate venture capital firms, incubators, accelerators, hackathons, and so on...
What distinguishes successful industry-startup collaboration concepts? There is no 'blueprint'!
Stefan Lernper has been surfing the 'Bermuda Triangle' between corporate innovation, venturing and the startup world since 1997.
In his presentation, he will share his experiences from many years of practice with the guests and provide an overview of the success factors and pitfalls.
In the first part, he will examine common approaches to collaboration between corporates and startups and their characteristics, ranging from collaborative projects and accelerator and incubation programs to venture capital investments and M&A. In the second part, Stefan Lernper will explain the challenges derived from his practical experience and the key elements for successful industry-startup collaboration.
What are the goals, and how should they be achieved? What are realistic expectations for collaborations with young startups, and how should they be managed? What are the specific organizational frameworks that need to be created? What cultural differences exist, and how should they be addressed?
