Germany's tech metropolises at a glance

Google, eBay, Microsoft – Germany is an important market for the major players in the US tech industry. Accordingly, they maintain offices here, but not—as one might expect—concentrated in the capital, Berlin. Munich and Hamburg are the top locations.

The infographic below shows that major American technology and internet companies are more likely to be drawn to the Elbe metropolis and the Isar River than to the Spree River. While Hamburg is currently home to Google, Twitter, and Facebook, Munich, with its Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and LinkedIn, is a major tech hub. Additionally, Google maintains a research center in Munich, and IBM has located the global headquarters of its Watson IoT division in Munich's Highlight Towers.
