The idea and start-up competition is taking place for the 9th time Generation D The program is looking for innovative approaches to social entrepreneurship. For the first time, social startups, in addition to students and young professionals, are also welcome to apply.
Ideas with social added value
The solution of social problems in the areas of Environment, education, health and social society is the focus of Generation D. Awards are given to ideas that are both innovative and creative, while creating social added value.
Applicants must also demonstrate entrepreneurial motivation—because only if the idea is implementation-oriented will it be shortlisted. An important prerequisite: Per team must at least two students or young professionals who actively contribute to the implementation of the business idea.
Many participants from Munich

Around 70 teams apply each year, many of them from Munich. Last year's Generation D competition also saw a Munich-based startup take the podium. Social Bee was the winner of the category “Social Society” 2016. The company is a social temporary employment agency that aims to actively integrate recognized refugees into the labor market and society (read an interview with the founders here).
What is there to win?
Three winning teams have the chance to Prize money totaling 10,000 euros. In addition, the award winners will receive Coaching and workshops by project partners such as Social Entrepreneurship Akademie, Go Beyond or Gründungsengel eV The city of Munich is also supporting the competition and will be represented as a juror on the competition jury.
Generation-D is organized on a voluntary basis by scholarship holders of the Bavarian Elite Academy for students and young professionals throughout Germany.
