Patent exploitation companies – Economic risks for small and medium-sized enterprises and defense strategies

Patent exploitation societies can be a suitable instrument for patent holders to exploit their own patents economically and profitably on the market.

However, patent exploitation companies can also engage in dubious practices by using the purchased patents exclusively to sue alleged patent infringers and enforce royalties. Unfortunately, this new business area has developed into a very lucrative market for patent exploiters, known as patent trolls, and is now threatening the existence of medium-sized companies.

The objectives of this event are to counter these patent trolls in an appropriate manner, to distinguish reputable patent exploitation societies from them, and to convey and discuss transparency and objective information.

Main topics of the conference:

  • Basics on patent infringement and patent invalidity
  • Where is the line between reputable patent exploiters and dubious patent trolls?
  • How can I, as a medium-sized company, defend myself against patent trolls?
  • Are patent trolls really a global threat?
