EIT Digital Challenge is looking for tech startups

The EIT Digital Challenge supports startups in their international growth. The prize is €50,000 and access to a European innovation network. Applications are open until July 31, 2016.

EIT Digital has launched the Europe-wide EIT Digital Challenge competition for the third time to identify the best European technology startups and support their international growth. Previous German competition winners include the Munich-based success-Startup Konux.

Dominik Krabbe, Head of the EIT Digital Challenge, explains the intention of the challenge:

"Eighty percent of all European startups want to internationalize their business, but only half of them actually take this step. If Europe leading position in the global digital transformation, must scale technologies across national borders We are looking for precisely these European startups that want to expand into new markets and establish their brand internationally, and we want to support them in doing so."

EIT Digital Challenge in five categories

EU-based startups that are growing and already have a product or service and a customer base are eligible to apply. The awards are presented in five categories: Digital Industry, Digital Cities, Digital Wellbeing, Digital Infrastructure, and Digital Finance.

The top ten teams in each category will be invited to pitch their digital technology to an international jury of experts. The final events for each category will take place in several European cities in autumn 2016.

Comprehensive price package

All participating startups will receive a prize package: The top three teams in each category will receive access to EIT Digital's pan-European innovation network of over 130 partners from leading corporations, SMEs, startups, universities, and research institutes in the field of digital technologies. The winners will also have the opportunity to join the EIT Digital Accelerator for one year. The first-place winners in each category will also receive €50,000 in prize money.
