The German government is expanding its information and advisory services for people from non-EU countries. This will provide better support to refugees interested in starting a business.
People of foreign origin already establish one in five businesses in Germany. In addition to the positive economic impact of newly established businesses, the establishment of such businesses also helps refugees integrate into Germany. A residence permit is a prerequisite for refugees to pursue self-employment.
Information services for refugees
The online guide "GründerZeiten" supports refugees in German and Arabic with helpful tips. The "Start-up portal“ informs prospective company founders in German, English, French and Italian.
The federal government is planning further measures: The "Start-up Mentorships" pilot project is intended to connect interested parties with local companies and self-employed individuals. The "Welcome Guides," the "Companies Integrating Refugees" network, and other partners from business and society will increasingly provide advice on starting a business in the future.
