The Startup Association is presenting the German Startup Awards 2026 for the seventh time. They honor individuals who shape the German startup ecosystem with innovative strength and entrepreneurial courage. Verena Pausder, Chair of the Startup Association, explains:
"Our award winners demonstrate what the German startup ecosystem stands for: scientific excellence, social commitment, and entrepreneurial vision. They prove that Germany is a great startup. And we are convinced that even more world-class 'Made in Germany' companies can be created if we reduce bureaucracy, mobilize capital, and promote entrepreneurship."
The selection procedure follows a multi-stage process:
- Nomination phase: Anyone can submit nominations for potential winners – anonymously and also as a self-nomination.
- Preliminary selection: All submissions are reviewed and evaluated. The top ten in each category advance to the jury process.
- Jury process: In two sessions and a central jury meeting, a jury selects the finalists and ultimately chooses the winners.
The awards don't honor companies, but people. The focus is on personal stories, innovative spirit, and the ability to cope with both successes and setbacks.
Awards are given in the categories "Newcomer of the Year," "Founder of the Year," "Investor of the Year," and "Impact Entrepreneur of the Year." They all honor individuals who serve as role models for the startup ecosystem.
Nominations are possible until October 19, 2025, via the German Startup Awards website.
