The LabCampusLocated on the western edge of Munich Airport, it is increasingly becoming a central innovation hub for Munich's startup community and other future-oriented players. The first quarter now in focus, also known as the "Pioneer Quarter," marks the beginning of a campus development with a distinctive identity.
The plans for Pioneer Quarter include a total of six new buildings, numbered LAB 47 to LAB 60. They are intended to create a clear architectural identity while remaining flexible in their use – from multi-tenant office space to customizable headquarters. Pioneer Square, a spacious public square that will serve as a unifying element, is being created at the center of the quarter. A network of pathways is also planned to connect the buildings and enhance the quality of life.
Target groups, use and development perspective
The quarter is specifically aimed at future-oriented companies and research institutions. In addition to showrooms, event spaces, and catering facilities, it will also include rooms for research, prototyping, and common areas.
With the existing buildings LAB 48 and LAB 52 almost fully occupied, and the upcoming move by Technische Universität München (TUM), the site is already gaining vitality. TUM is scheduled to move in at the beginning of 2026, further strengthening the campus's profile.
With its development, the LabCampus also contributes to the innovation strategy “Innovation Agenda 2030” of the City of Munich. With this agenda, the state capital aims to establish Munich as a leading European location for AI, cleantech, and scalable innovations. Dr. Christian Scharpf, Minister for Labour and Economic Affairs of the City of Munich, says:
"Interdisciplinary spaces like the LabCampus are essential for true innovation. Where science, business, and administration come together, a dynamic platform for exchange, networking, and collaborative development is created."
Perspective for Munich startups
The Pioneer Quarter opens up new opportunities for Munich's startup community: Its proximity to global companies, research institutions, and co-working spaces creates ideal networking and growth potential. Flexible rental units allow you to move into an environment that is both inspiring and professional – including high-performance infrastructure. The option to use showrooms or prototyping areas offers startups a platform for exchange with established players.
“With the new Pioneer Quarter, we are continuing our journey to make LabCampus a leading innovation hub in Europe – networked, international and inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of Munich,”
