SmartAIs secures pre-seed financing

The Munich-based startup SmartAIs has successfully completed pre-seed financing. With funding from Bayern Kapital and business angels, the company plans to further develop its AI-supported navigation app for blind people.

SmartAIs is working on a smartphone app for obstacle detection for blind and visually impaired people. The technology is based on computer vision and artificial intelligence. The app uses the phone's cameras to detect barriers and dangerous situations and warns users with acoustic signals.

The Startup was founded in 2024 by Sascha Preget, Yamen Mohisn, Said Derbel, and Anika Watzka. Their vision: to improve the mobility of blind people. The app is intended to enable them to move more safely in public spaces. The start-up company received the German Mobility Prize in the category “Digital Transformation and AI”.

Sascha Preget, CEO of SmartAIs, explains:

"I am convinced that artificial intelligence will drastically change the lives of the blind community in the coming years. We want to be part of this change."

SmartAIs plans to launch soon

Bayern Kapital is leading SmartAIs's first financing round. Private investors from the fields of artificial intelligence and augmented reality are also participating. The exact amount of the investment is not disclosed. The fresh capital will be used to further develop the app. Extensive user testing and the optimization of the AI models are planned. The market launch is scheduled for the coming months.
