OCELL is a Munich-based green tech startup that develops local, high-quality climate protection projects that are transparent, measurable, and effective.
Our goal is to harness the full potential of forests and make a significant contribution to climate protection. By processing aerial photographs and data from various sources, we use artificial intelligence to create "digital twins" of forests. These provide insights into forest growth, current CO₂ storage capacity, and other metrics, and can predict optimal forest management strategies to store more CO₂ in the forests in the long term. Our climate protection projects have an immediate impact and are nature-based, while being supported by cutting-edge technology.
Thanks to this innovative technology and our strong commitment to data transparency, we ensure that our solutions have real impact. Currently, over 800,000 hectares of sustainable forest land in a total of eleven countries are managed with our software.
The three founders, David Dohmen, Christian Decher, and Felix Horvat, met during their engineering studies at the Technical University of Munich and subsequently during their first jobs at another Munich-based startup. They quickly realized that they wanted to use their passion for technology to develop solutions for the environment and climate. After a few months of experimentation, they had found their use case: using high-resolution aerial imagery and AI to survey forests and optimize our most important terrestrial CO2 sink for even more CO2 storage and increased biodiversity.
