In the future, competition will be between business models, not between products and services (Gary Hamel). But how can companies develop innovative business models? Research from the Institute for Technology Management at the University of St.Gallen has shown that most successful business model innovations are based on a recombination of successful models, often from other industries. These models form the basis of the St. Gallen Business Model Navigator.TM, a systematic approach to developing business model innovations.
Learn what characterizes a business model and why business model innovation is becoming increasingly important for all companies. Understand why it is so difficult, especially for successful companies, to break away from the dominant logic of their industry and discover an effective approach to developing business innovation.
About the speakers:
Georg von der Ropp is a Partner Advisory at BMI Lab AG, St.Gallen, and Managing Director of BMI Lab GmbH, Munich. He holds a degree in computer science from the Technical University of Munich and an MBA from the University of St.Gallen with a focus on innovation and transformation. For more than 20 years, he has supported renowned companies in transformation projects. Prior to joining BMI Lab, he was Vice President at Capgemini, most recently in the CTO area responsible for innovation topics and startup collaborations.
Alexander Vencken is an Innovation Consultant at BMI Lab GmbH, Munich. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from ESADE Business School in Barcelona. Prior to joining BMI Lab, he was an Innovation Consultant at Claro Partners in Barcelona and an entrepreneur in Amsterdam. There, he founded and managed a restaurant and two catering companies.

What is a WakeUp!?
WakeUp! is a networking event at Munich Network. Each WakeUp! focuses on a specific topic. A topic expert gives a 20-minute presentation and shares their personal experiences with the participants. All participants introduce themselves and also have the opportunity to share their own experiences, ideas, and perspectives on the day's topic with the other participants.
