Chargex: Tobias Wagner steps down as CEO

The Munich-based startup for charging infrastructure solutions, Chargex, is getting a new CEO: Tobias Scharfen, a specialist with relevant sales and scaling experience, is joining the company. The current CEO, co-founder Tobias Wagner, is stepping down at his own request.

In his new role as CEO of Chargex, Tobia Scharfen has been working alongside Michael Masnitza on an operational level since February 1. His main focus is on international expansion, establishing additional sales channels and developing scalable structures for the company's further growth. Startups.

Tobias Scharfen is considered a highly networked expert in the field of e-mobility. As CSO of the Austrian company Has To Be, a provider of charge point management systems, Scharfen was responsible for above-average growth by establishing suitable sales structures. In 2021, the startup achieved the largest exit in Austrian startup history to date and was sold to the US company Chargepoint for €250 million. Following the handover phase, Scharfen founded Forward Concept, his own consulting firm focusing on startups in the e-mobility and energy sectors. In the process, he established the "Charging Night" together with Baywa Mobility Solutions, one of the key networking events in the e-mobility industry.

Tobias Wagner, his predecessor and co-founder of the startup, is stepping down from his current management role at his own request, but will remain a shareholder and member of Chargex's advisory board. He will also take on strategy and innovation projects. He says:
