Biovaria is looking for startups for its Pitch & Partner Program

At Biovaria on April 29 and 30, current technologies in basic biomedical research will once again be presented and discussed. With the Startup Pitch & Partner Program, the event gives founders the opportunity to present their companies on stage.

The “Startup Pitch & Partner” program offers selected startups from all Life Science- and BiotechFounders – i.e., pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medtech, and digital health – have the opportunity to present their startup on the Biovaria stage. They will compete in two categories for the "BioVaria Startup Award," endowed with up to €2,000. They will also have various opportunities to network with investors and established companies from the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, including speed dating sessions. The event is organized by Ascenion and Max Planck Innovation.

Two categories in the Biovaria Startup Award

The award jury will select up to 15 startups to compete for the Biovaria Startup Award in two categories. The "Emerging Startups" award is aimed at pre-seed teams that are either still in the founding process or have founded a company within the past four years. The cash prize for the first-place winner in this category is €1,000. Startups seeking follow-on financing in the near future compete in the "Rising Startups" category. The award in this category is endowed with €2,000.

The jury includes representatives from various investors in the life science sector: Biotech Founder, Novo Seeds, EQT Life Sciences, Biogeneration Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, GIMV, TVM Capital Life Science, LBBW Venture Capital, Forbion, Apollo Health Ventures and Life Science Factory.

Last year, the Berlin-based startup Lactabico won the "Emerging Startups" award. The "Rising Startups" award went to Ceridwen Oncology from Great Britain.

The application deadline for startups is February 15, 2024. Further information can be found here.
