Since 2019, AmCham Germany, together with various partners and sponsors, has been supporting female founders with innovative and future-oriented business models with the Female Founders Award. Even in 2024, they will still be one of the Minority in the startup ecosystemThe award is intended to give female founders greater visibility and at the same time offer a network of experienced entrepreneurs and investors.
AmCham Germany particularly encourages applications from female founders in the fields of technology and engineering. However, having a company in these fields is not a prerequisite for applying. Female founders can apply themselves or be nominated by companies or individuals. The application deadline is 14 January 2024An independent jury will then select the award winners, who will be announced in early March.
Marianne Janik, Vice President of AmCham Germany and CEO of Microsoft Germany, explains:
"We want to make female talent more visible – also to overcome unconscious prejudices and inspire other women (and men) who have great ideas but are still hesitant to take the big step into entrepreneurship."
Prizes and conditions of participation for the Female Founders Award 2024
The award winners will become part of AmCham Germany's nationwide and transatlantic business network. They will receive support in networking with relevant corporate contacts, gain visibility for themselves and their companies, and become part of the Female Leaders Platform, where they can connect with high-ranking female executives and founders.
The following selection criteria apply to the Female Founders Award:
- The applicant must be a (co-)founder of a company or startup.
- The company has been successfully positioned on the market for 2 to 5 years and is no older than 10 years.
- Healthy growth and a solid and growing customer base are proven.
- The company's turnover in the last financial year was at least 100,000 euros or there was a corresponding turnover-relevant commitment (e.g. paid pilot project) or the startup received investments of at least 500,000 euros.
- The startup serves a clearly defined market.
- The team consists of at least 5 people.
- Leading media outlets have already reported on the company.
- The startup is currently well financed and has a clear vision for the future and growth over the next 5 years.
