Atopia receives six-figure pre-seed financing

The Munich-based startup Atopia has raised mid-six-figure pre-seed funding. The cash injection is intended to help the young company revolutionize the cultural industry with virtual reality technologies.

The fresh capital for Atopia comes from renowned investors such as FOV Ventures and Heartfelt_ (formerly APX), as well as several business angels. This successful investment round represents a decisive step for Atopia toward its goal of making culture accessible to everyone through immersive experiences.

Annabell Vacano, one of the founders, explains:

Culture enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a limitless cultural offering via any browser or a VR app, alone or as a shared experience with friends. The business strategy of B2B2C platform This includes both licensing to institutions and revenue generation on the consumer side. Vacano added:

“We are creating a new revenue stream for arts and cultural institutions by enabling them to reach first-time visitors around the world.”

Atopia's founding team combines management and technology expertise with expertise in the cultural industry: Annabell Vacano is a cultural consultant and violinist, and Valentin Diehl is a trained historian with many years of experience in software development. With this background, the team has already secured 15 renowned cultural institutions as launch partners, including the Kunsthalle Mannheim, Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Berliner Festspiele, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Gropius Bau, and the Rüdiger Schöttle Gallery.

Atopia has also already won several competitions. Among others, the Startup 1st place in the “Startup to Watch” category at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) in Silicon Valley, start-up awards such as Start?Zuschuss!, and was nominated for the ArtTech Prize and the Social Impact Award Germany.
