Pre-seed financing for spacetech startup Airmo

The Munich-based startup Airmo has secured €5.2 million in funding. The company aims to advance climate protection from space with its satellites.

The financing round includes spacetech investor Christian Federspiel, Ananda Impact Ventures, Pi-Labs, E2MC and Antler. With the fresh capital, Airmo will increase its staff and work with an expanded team to launch its first satellite into space in late 2024 or early 2025. The satellites of the company, founded in 2022, will then be equipped with spectrometers and lidar technology and will be able to detect and measure greenhouse gases in real time—and with significantly greater accuracy than ESA and NASA currently do.

Harriet von Kügelgen, one of the founders, says in an interview with Tech Funding News (TFN):

"Our satellite will be the first of a total of twelve. We are currently working hard on development. Things are going well, and we can't wait to launch the first satellite."

One of the financiers, Alan Poensgen von Antler, adds:

"Airmo's experienced and impressive founding team has developed an outstanding technology that combats the world's greatest challenge – climate change. Airmo could completely transform the way we measure and reduce emissions, and this funding round demonstrates Airmo's growth potential."
