The highlight of the evening: Michael J. Fox personally accepted the newly created Frontier Award for his commitment to the fight against Parkinson's disease. Since his own diagnosis more than 30 years ago, the actor and film producer has tirelessly worked to combat the disease. With his Michael J. Fox Foundation, the filmmaker has raised more than $1.75 billion for Parkinson's research and become the world's largest charitable funder in this field. The Frontier Award, presented jointly with the Board of Trustees of Bits Pretzels Healthtech, honors people who venture into uncharted territory, bravely face adversity, and move forward with optimism, even when the odds for change seem insurmountable.
