How can medical catheters help combat obesity and hospital-acquired infections? What opportunities does environmentally friendly hydropower offer for the energy transition? What new possibilities do 3D printing of electronic components offer? These and other questions were answered by the award-winning teams in Phase 2 of the Munich Business Plan Competition. In Phase 2, the teams focused on marketing and sales and demonstrated how they intend to bring their concepts to market. In addition to receiving detailed expert feedback on all submissions in Phase 2, the winning teams received additional prizes totaling €9,000.
Munich Business Plan Competition: 5 winners of Phase 2
With innovative medical technology, Sedivention in first place. The startup aims to facilitate the treatment of obesity with a novel catheter that minimally invasively cauterizes the "hunger nerve" in the stomach. Second place goes to EnergyminerThe team is working in the field of renewable energy on a cost-effective technology for harnessing hydropower from rivers. The solution is fish-friendly and does not involve any harmful interference with nature. The team is also dedicated to medical technology. Puray with a medical catheter that is continuously disinfected with UVC light during use, thus protecting patients from hospital infections. The team at Additive Electronics was able to convince the jury: It is working on 3D printers for the production of electronic components from electrically conductive and non-conductive materials, which enables new component designs and functionalities. And finally, there is another award-winning innovation in the field of photovoltaics: The fifth-place team from Otter Energy Trading from Munich wants to enable companies with their own solar systems to profitably market the solar power they generate – with the help of intelligent software.
Valuable constructive criticism from the jury
Fabian Brunner, Head of the Munich Business Plan Competition at Baystartup, says:
"We see the strongest concepts in Phase 2 of this year's competition in the areas of medical technology, renewable energies, and B2B software-as-a-service. There are also exciting teams in the areas of construction, food technology, and data science whose further development is worth monitoring."
And Ute Nollert, Managing Director at Sedivention, says:
"As a founder from the Munich district, the Munich Business Plan Competition offers me fantastic opportunities to network with other founders and exchange experiences. Most importantly, however, is the constructive criticism I receive from the volunteer judges, which helps the team improve their business idea and bring it to life here."
Applications for the final competition phase now open
Startup teams from Munich and throughout Southern Bavaria can participate in the final phase 3 of the Munich Business Plan Competition until June 6, 2023. A business plan of approximately 30 pages is required, focusing on implementation, capital requirements, and revenue planning.
