Order Link: AI support for sales

Order Link uses artificial intelligence to support internal sales teams in customer communication. The Munich-based startup presents its solution in an interview.

Munich Startup: What is your StartupWhat problem are you solving?

Order Link: Internal sales employees are often overwhelmed by the flood of emails they have to process every day. Order Link supports internal sales in processing incoming email inquiries by analyzing sales-related emails and performing appropriate tasks. These tasks include correctly forwarding emails to the right contact person, creating quotes in the ERP system, searching for suitable products, and answering queries. This saves each employee an average of 10 hours per week and creates time for what matters most: direct customer contact.

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Order Link: There are already numerous tools that analyze and structure emails, and transfer the data to other systems. However, these neglect the fact that sales is not a one-way street, but essentially consists of communication between customer and salesperson. Order Link not only supports sales with data transfer, but also with finding exactly the right products for each customer and providing quick responses.

Order Link emerged from AI agency

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Order Link: Our two founders, Stefan and Lucas, met back in 2017 while working on their final thesis at a startup. At that time, Stefan was already self-employed and looking for a partner to implement a new project. Lucas joined him, and together they founded the AI agency Unetiq in 2018. With our growing team, we have implemented numerous software projects over the past five years. But the search for new business ideas was never-ending for us, and we eventually encountered the problem of email processing in sales. To solve this problem, we developed Order Link—which we spun off into its own company in 2022.

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Order Link: When we took the step from project to product business, we faced a major challenge. Product development, marketing, and sales differ from project business in many ways. To overcome this challenge, we had to make fundamental changes: We developed new processes, reassigned roles within the company, and intensively engaged with product development.

“Great startup ecosystem”

Munich Startup: How are things going?

Order Link: Order Link is already being successfully deployed by our first customers and processes thousands of emails every month in various countries and languages. We are continuously working on providing our customers with even better functionality in their back office. At the same time, we have expanded our sales strategy to reach new customers and increase our reach.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Order Link: Munich's fantastic startup ecosystem has definitely helped us a lot on our journey. We both studied at the Technical University of Munich and, through UnternehmerTUM, we first encountered entrepreneurship and found our first clients. Great accelerators like Wayra helped us grow, and we were always able to get good tips and support from other founders.

Munich Startup: Outsource or do it yourself?

Order Link: The core activities of the business model must always be performed in-house. In our case, these are product development and sales, which also bring new demands to the product. Things that you aren't good at in-house and only need occasionally, such as design, should be outsourced so you can focus on what's important.
