WomenTechEU is part of the "European Innovation Ecosystems" work program of "Horizon Europe" and supports female-founded startups with an individual grant of €75,000. In addition, all female founders are offered mentoring and coaching, as well as special networking opportunities across the EU, as part of the European Innovation Council's (EIC) "Women Leadership" program.
A total of 467 startups from 35 countries applied for the second round of the program. In addition to EU member states, Horizon Europe programs are also open to associated countries such as Israel, Norway, and Turkey. Ultimately, 134 female founders and their startups from 26 countries were selected.
The winners also include 7 startups from Munich: Accu:rate, Curevision, Engineering Minds Munich, iComplai, Kasuria, Koralo and Nebumind. Kerstin von Diemar, co-founder and CEO of Curevision, says:
"We are very proud to have been selected for funding. This encourages us to continue advancing the use of artificial intelligence in medicine, especially in the treatment of chronic wounds. Personally, I think it's fantastic that almost half of the German deep-tech startups in the program are from Munich. This is a great recognition of the intensive work of everyone in the Munich ecosystem who supports tech startups, and to whom we at Curevision owe a great deal."
“One step closer to our goal”
"Our mission to promote healthier lives for consumers is supported by the EU, which means we're one step closer to achieving our goal. When we started with COVID, we faced some challenges. But we worked hard and managed to gain the trust of industry leaders. This trust and recognition is now being taken to a new level with the European Commission's WomenTech EU Award. I'm very proud of that."
leads Asli Solmaz-Kaiser, CEO and founder of iComplai. She continues:
"Diversity has many faces. Women in technology are one of them. We're excited to be one of the lights shining to show the world that the world can change and that it's not one-sided. Everyone can succeed, regardless of ethnicity, background, or gender. Believing in your mission is key."
