Modelwise receives 2 million euros in seed funding

The Munich-based industrial tech startup Modelwise develops AI for the digitalization of security technology. It has now completed its seed financing round with €2 million ($2.2 million). The round is led by Berlin-based investor Join Capital.

Modelwise has developed an AI-powered software platform that helps engineers keep track of safety analyses right from the design phase. It automates technical tasks, helping to improve results and save time and money. “Spell checker for engineering models” Many different industries, from aerospace to automotive engineering and industrial automation, are expected to benefit.

“Modelwise is the key to smart factories and Industry 4.0 while ensuring safety – no human can check 70,000 parameters,”

explained Detlev Richter, VP Industrial and Energy Products at TÜV Süd. The startup has been working with TÜV for some time now; among other things, the certification body has verified the integrity of the tool and the correctness of its results.

Modelwise has now closed its €2 million ($2.2 million) seed funding round. Berlin-based VC Join Capital is leading the round, with Emerging Ventures and Fast by Gettylab also participating. Several business angels are also on board.

Modelwise impresses with “impressive collaboration with the industry”

"Companies are under increasing pressure to minimize time to market and ensure faster lead times to optimize supply chains. At the same time, they are faced with increasing product complexity. Through our close contacts with the industry, we understand their problems, and the highly manual process of safety engineering is a significant bottleneck for the entire manufacturing industry. Automating this process is a major leap forward that hasn't been addressed before."

leads Tobias Schirmer from, partner at Join CapitalHe goes on to say:

"We chose to support Modelwise because of the team's deep expertise in this area, the power of their proprietary technology, and their clear value proposition, underpinned by impressive industry collaboration. We look forward to supporting Florian, Arnold, Iliya, and the team in their mission to revolutionize the security engineering process across industries."

Florian Grigoleit, CEO of Modelwise and one of the three founders of the startup alongside Arnold Bitner and Iliya Valchef, says:

"Safety should never be a secondary consideration in product development, but given cost, time, and other constraints, it can fall down the priority list. Our software makes safety engineering as quick and easy as spell-checking while improving quality, allowing engineers to truly focus on innovation. We look forward to working with Join Capital to take Modelwise to the next level and enable a safer future where everyone can trust technologies like autonomous aircraft."
