The capital for the "Matterwave Industrial Technologies II Fund" comes from institutional investors such as the European Investment Fund, LfA Förderbank Bayern, and NRW Bank, as well as industrial companies, foundations, and family offices. According to the investor, a large portion of the capital commitments comes from long-standing existing investors. Robert Gallenberger, Partner at Matterwave Ventures, says:

Matterwave Ventures emerged from Btov team
The money from the fund will be invested in 20 to 25 companies across Europe over the next few years. Initially, each company will receive €1 million to €4 million, with further investment rounds increasing to up to €10 million. The focus will be on sustainability, resource efficiency, and climate tech.
Matterwave Ventures was formed at the beginning of 2022 as a rebranding of the team of Btov Industrial Technologies, founded in 2016. The Munich-based startups in the investor's portfolio include Dye Mansion, Electrochaea, GNA Biosolutions, Orcan Energy and TestbirdsThe team claims to have more than 60 years of investment experience. The company currently closes five to six new financings per year.
