Around 12,000 visitors, including 4,200 startups and 2,200 investors, will meet at Slush on November 17 and 18. As in previous years, the topics of the future will be discussed on the stages of the Helsinki Expo and Convention Center. This year's speakers include Ev Williams (co-founder of Obvious Ventures, Twitter, and Medium, among others), Emmett Shear (co-founder and CEO of Twitch), and Mette Lykke (CEO of Too Good to Go). Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin and Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, are also expected to attend.
This year, amidst the neon-colored hustle and bustle of Slush, there will also be a booth where Munich Startup, together with the Startup Champs' partner cities (Hamburg, Cologne, and Berlin), will offer a platform for innovative young companies. Four startups from Munich will be participating.
Farminsect
Farminsect enables farmers to produce animal feed from insect larvae. To this end, the startup has developed automated fattening systems operated by farmers on their own farms. These farmers themselves fatten the young larvae continuously provided by the startup. The locally produced insect larvae are intended to completely replace soy and fish meal as animal feed. This should increase farmers' resource efficiency and added value, while reducing CO2 emissions.
Co-Founder Thomas Kuehn is looking forward to the event in Helsinki:
“FarmInsect goes to Slush with the expectation of meeting cool investors and great people.”
Fernride
Since fully autonomous logistics vehicles are still too far away from practical use, Fernride The startup intends to bridge the gap until then by combining existing autonomous technology with human teleoperators. Human personnel will take over remote control of the semi-autonomous vehicles in situations where AI reaches its limits. To this end, the Munich-based company equips the vehicles with the necessary technology and connects them to its teleoperations center. Teleoperators will sit at a computer workstation modeled on a vehicle cockpit and intervene in critical moments. In the medium term, one teleoperator will be able to support fleets of up to 50 autonomous vehicles.
Co-Founder Hendrik Kramer says:
"At Fernride, we've built Europe's best team in autonomous electric trucking in Munich and launched our product in live operation this year with some of the best customers, such as Volkswagen and DB Schenker. Fernride and Slush share a passion for the best technology and groundbreaking entrepreneurship. We look forward to inspiring an international audience with our success story, and we're equally excited to be inspired by all the other amazing startups there."
Justt
The media startup Justt is developing a platform that applies the concept of YouTube, Spotify, and others to written content. The goal is to connect content creators such as publishers, freelance journalists, and bloggers with users of quality content from all over the world. An AI-based recommendation engine will directly match both user groups, ensuring that only verified, quality content finds its way to global user groups.
Co-Founder Felix Braune wants to use the Slush as a springboard for international expansion:
"Justt is designed as a globally scalable platform: We use technology to bring together creators (publishers, freelance journalists, bloggers, etc.) and users of quality written content from all over the world. Therefore, we will soon be expanding across Europe and into English-speaking countries. Slush is the perfect place to reach international partners and investors who want to join us on this journey."
Mily Technologies
Mily Technologies develops analytics software for optimizing last-mile delivery processes. The startup aims to help delivery companies uncover inefficiencies, improve courier performance, and make better decisions.
Aleksander Buha, Co-Founder of Mily, says:
"Logistics is perhaps one of the industries most impacted by the increasing technological innovations of the past two years. As Slush is the leading startup event for technology-oriented companies, we would like to take this opportunity to showcase our contribution to the logistics revolution. We look forward to meeting experts from complementary industries and sharing our knowledge with other successful startups."
