Social-Startup-Hub Bayern: New contact point for social enterprises

The new Social-Startup-Hub Bayern is intended to promote social enterprises in Bavaria. The hub is run by Social Entrepreneurship Akademie in Munich.

As of 1 September 2022, the new Social-Startup-Hub Bayern (SSHB) has begun its work. The SSHB is the core of the cross-departmental concept for promoting social entrepreneurship adopted by the Bavarian state government.

Consulting and networking

social enterprises contribute to solving social challenges by pursuing new, innovative approaches to solutions in all areas of society using entrepreneurial methods – from inclusion to ecology, climate change, and integration to education and care. The focus of the new Bavarian social startup hub is on advising and connecting budding social enterprises with existing structures. The free consulting and networking services are aimed at founders from the early stages of their startup. The focus is not on whether there is already a mature idea or an ongoing project, but rather on whether the project is impact-oriented and supported by a sustainable, viable business model.

“Unique nationwide”

Minister of Social Affairs Ulrike Scharf emphasized at the launch of the SSHB:

"Bavaria is only strong together. Social entrepreneurship creates new opportunities for our economy, but also for society, which we urgently need to seize! Our Bavarian Social Startup Hub is unique in Germany and specifically targets aspiring social entrepreneurs. The Social Startup Hub is the central contact point and provides targeted support. Anyone who wants to implement an innovative idea can now contact the SSHB."

The SSHB is intended to pool professional expertise across departments and act as a cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral platform. For example, it also aims to build bridges to existing start-up support and consulting services or established advisory centers such as inclusion offices. The hub is sponsored by Social Entrepreneurship Akademie (SEA) in Munich. The Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs supports the SSHB through a model project.
