Day 2 of Bits & Pretzels: Munich startups everywhere

Bits & Pretzels has long been an international startup festival, but Munich startups still set the tone.

The Spotlight Stage is all about fast-growing startups. The young companies are given ten minutes each to introduce themselves and answer questions from the audience and moderator Magdalena Oehl. Naturally, a startup from Munich kicked things off: Fernride is working on bringing autonomous driving into logistics. The young company offers a solution that enables remote operation of electric trucks in enclosed areas such as company premises or ports. This simultaneously trains the company's AI, which is expected to take on more and more tasks behind the wheel in the future. After the pitch, however, things are only really getting started for the startup at Bits, explains CEO and co-founder Hendrik Kramer"I think we have 20 investor meetings here over the next two days, so we're having many, many good discussions with investors who will hopefully help us grow Fernride even faster." Bits & Pretzels is something of a home game for Fernride: In 2020, the company won the Munich Startup Award here, back then under the name Pylot. (Photo: M. Feigl / Munich Startup)
