App against erectile dysfunction: Kranus Health raises 6 million euros

Kranus Health has closed its Series A round with €6.1 million ($6.5 million). The Munich-based company is now funded with €7.6 million ($8 million).

Kranus Health has developed the potency app Kranus Edera, which is approved as a digital health application. This allows the app to be prescribed by doctors and is then reimbursed by health insurance companies. The French investor Karista is leading the financing round at Munich startup The Austrian family office Peak Pride, several business angels and all existing investors, including HTGF and A Round Capital, are participating in the investment.

“We will invest the money in expanding sales in Germany to reach as many patients as possible with our therapy, in research in the field of Male Tech and in the development of further therapies for men’s sexual health,”

says Jens Nörtershäuser, founder and co-CEO of Kranus Health. By the end of the year, the number of employees is expected to double from the current 50 to over 100. According to the company, the Kranus Edera app has had the most successful market launch of any digital health application since its launch in January 2022.

Kranus Health will use the new funding to develop additional digital health applications. Research into the app's effectiveness will also be intensified. A randomized controlled trial on this topic will be conducted with Münster University Hospital later this year.

“At Kranus Health, we break taboos and solve men’s health problems that nobody talks about.”

Kranus Edera offers a holistic and fully reimbursable treatment for men suffering from erectile dysfunction. The prescription can be issued as a supplement to medication or as a standalone therapy. The twelve-week treatment is based on digital coaching using a personalized treatment plan.

The company plans to develop further digital therapies for common conditions in men's health. Founder and Co-CEO Thilo Kleinschmidt says:

"We need to focus more on men's health. At Kranus Health, we break taboos and solve men's health problems that no one talks about."

The company cites prostate enlargement and incontinence as examples of other applications. Kurt Miller, Chief Medical Officer at Kranus Health and former Professor of Urology at the Charité Berlin, says:

"Treatments supported by digital technology have great potential. We are improving patient care and enabling physicians to prescribe therapies that are consistent with medical guidelines."
