Avi Medical: Family doctor startup secures 50 million euros

Avi Medical has received €50 million in its Series B round. British investor Balderton Capital is leading the financing. The Munich-based company plans to use the funds to massively expand its network of primary care practices.

Avi Medical currently operates eight modern, technology-supported general practice offices in Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin. With the new capital, the Munich-based company plans to grow to 100 offices within the next three years. A focus of the expansion will be on previously underserved rural regions. Pursue was launched at the beginning of 2020 by Konux-Co-founder Vlad Lata and doctor Julian Kley.

In addition to Balderton Capital, existing investors Berlin-based Heal Capital, New York-based investor Addition, Picus Capital, Vorwerk Ventures, Eurazeo, and 3VC, as well as UiPath founder Daniel Dines and Forward Health founder Adrian Auon, are also participating in Avi Medical's financing round. The company is now funded with over €80 million. James Wise, Partner at Balderton Capital, says:

"Avi Medical is not only significantly improving patient and physician satisfaction, but is also shaping the primary healthcare of the future, where every patient will have a personalized health plan based on their medical history and needs. Becoming an innovator in a rightfully highly regulated sector is certainly one of the most difficult challenges for a founder. However, the Avi team has already proven itself fully capable of developing impactful services and products in the most important industry: our healthcare system."

Avi Medical: “We are very pleased that internationally renowned investors are supporting us on our journey”

In the first 12 months alone, Avi Medical's Munich practices treated over 20,000 patients. The company serves both statutory and private patients.

Modern AI-supported technologies are used at several points. For example, the software recognizes the reason for the visit during the booking process, digital patient forms are used, and medical data is automatically transferred to the in-house platform. This should, among other things, relieve doctors of administrative tasks and allow them to spend around 20 percent more time with patients than other general practitioners. Preventive care appointments will also be scheduled automatically in the future. Vlad Lata, co-founder of Avi Medical, says:

"Avi Medical was born out of our shared belief that we needed to better leverage modern technology to reshape the patient-doctor relationship and thus create the healthcare we all deserve. Since launch, we've seen incredible demand for this new approach, from both doctors and patients. Over the next twelve months, we'll make interaction with our platform even more efficient and further improve it. We're delighted to have internationally renowned investors supporting us on our journey."
