“Our offerings are aimed at a wide range of customer groups: young professionals who are under professional time pressure and do not want to miss out on a healthy diet, but also families or older people who want easy access to high-quality organic products from the surrounding area,”
explained Clemens Rengier, the founder of Biorena.
His startup offers Munich consumers a selection of fresh, regional products, as well as a range of innovative organic startups and delicatessen items. There are also selected organic foods that can't be grown in Germany, such as lemons and coffee. This should allow customers to do their entire weekly shopping at Biorena. The startup aims to carefully select regional producers and pay them fairly, as Rengier explains:
"It's important to us that we know our producers personally. Through an optimally coordinated network of partnerships, we can also compensate for production fluctuations of smaller producers and thus offer our regional partners secure sales opportunities."
Biorena convinces Picus Capital
Biorena plans to deliver Monday to Saturday within a freely selectable one-hour time slot between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., or directly on the same day starting three hours after the order is placed. Biorena also differentiates itself from other delivery services by using electric vans instead of bicycles. In the future, the startup plans to expand its business to other cities and regions.
With this concept, Biorena convinced the investor Picus Capital. Oliver Heinrich, Partner at Picus Capital, explained:
"Food delivery services have already dramatically changed the way we shop, and sustainable solutions are needed. We know that with Clemens and Biorena, we're supporting a team that focuses on sustainability, quality, and health."
