In addition to the lead investor Btov, Emerge Education, Pirate Impact, all existing investors from the business angel round and a number of new business angels are also participating in Edurino. Munich startup was founded in 2021 by Irene Klemm and Franziska Meyer. In October 2021, Edurino successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign and raised over 40,000 euros.
With the fresh capital, the Munich-based company plans to develop additional learning figures and bring their product to retail. Plans include learning games for numbers. The next step will be to develop products for schoolchildren. These will integrate learning games for creativity, English, and coding into the app. The team is expected to triple in size from 10 to 30 employees over the next 12 months.
Edurino: “We want to lay the foundation for responsible digital competence”
The edtech startup has developed a learning app that uses a stylus and physical figures to offer children ages 4 and up a hybrid approach to reading and writing via mobile devices. Parents can track their children's learning progress and regulate screen time on their own devices. The app announces the end of playtime and shuts down after the screen time has elapsed. Irene Klemm, co-founder of Edurino, says:
"We want to lay the foundation for responsible digital literacy. We were surprised by how few good digital products were available on the market. Together with our strong team of investors from gaming, education, and tech, we want to revolutionize the digital education industry in the coming years."
The second co-founder Franziska Meyer says:
"We want to create product love among children. You have to look at the world from a different perspective and understand children's sense of humor. We've worked with over 20 kindergartens and seen how well Edurino integrates into children's everyday lives. Our crowdfunding campaign exceeded its target by 60 percent, so we see our hybrid approach as validation."
