Health-i Award 2021: Vote now for finalists

The ceremony for this year's Health-i Awards is approaching. Each year, Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) and Handelsblatt honor projects whose ideas have a positive impact on the healthcare industry. Two Munich-based companies are among the finalists. Online voting is open until September 24.

The Health-i Award is entering its final voting period. After a pre-selection by TK and Handelsblatt determined the top 5 in the "Young Talents," "Startups," and "Companies" categories from more than 200 applications, online voting is now open. Interested parties can participate until September 24. The candidates with the best voting results in their category will benefit from an additional vote at the jury meeting on October 1, where the winners in the "Young Talents" and "Companies" categories will be selected. The seven-member jury brings together experts from the fields of business, health, science, and opinion who want to support innovations in the healthcare sector with their experience and expertise. In the "Startups" category, the two final teams will pitch live for the win during the digital awards ceremony at the Handelsblatt Health – The Digital Future conference on November 24.

Two Munich companies in the final

Two Munich-based companies also made it to the finals. Firstly, Deepeye in the 'Young Talents' category. Deepeye is an ophthalmological decision-making algorithm for individual diagnosis and treatment planning. The decision assistant for ophthalmologists checks whether an existing retinal disease requires treatment or not. An image (OCT = Optical Coherence Tomography) of the patient's eye is taken. The assistant scans millions of other such images and then makes a suggestion for an individual treatment. Deepeye CEO Manuel Opitz has already COO of Mecuris prove that he can build a successful company in the health sector.

On the other hand, it has Kranus Health made it into the top 5 in the 'Startup' category. Kranus Health offers an app for erectile dysfunction that is approved as a certified medical device. In the coming years, the Munich-based company plans to develop further digital solutions in the field of men's health.
