Munich Startup: Who are you and what do you do?
Driverhero: Hello, we are Richard, Michael, Emanuel and Steven, the founders of DriverheroSince the beginning of 2021, we've been helping job seekers find a job as a delivery driver quickly, easily, and securely. We've known each other for several years and often met for a beer after work. We often talked about starting a business. What we lacked, however, was a good idea.
At the time, Richard was responsible for driver recruitment in Europe at Amazon, among other things. He and his team encountered numerous hurdles during the recruiting process, as the existing solutions on the market often didn't meet their requirements. Previous solutions on the market typically work by first creating a job advertisement, followed by job seekers applying. All applications then have to be reviewed, and suitable candidates are filtered out and invited for interviews. The entire process not only takes an incredible amount of time, but is also extremely stressful for both employers and applicants.
Driver recruitment requires more efficient processes
Especially when drivers are needed quickly, demand often cannot be met, which in turn leads to delivery problems within the company. Driver recruitment therefore requires more efficient processes, and there are simply no providers that focus on this niche. So why not create a platform for it ourselves? When he told us about his idea, we were all immediately enthusiastic and decided within a few days to implement the plan together. At that time, however, we were still working in various permanent positions or as freelancers on other projects. Michael worked in recruitment, Emanuel as a software developer, and Steven in marketing. We consider it an absolute stroke of luck that we combine so many skills as a team. And since we are close friends, we work very well together. Working together is a lot of fun!
Munich Startup: What problem does your startup solve?
Driverhero: The E-commerce market is booming, and the delivery sector has been growing steadily for years. Furthermore, new business models that include delivery services are being launched every day. But to meet the growing demand, delivery companies need one thing above all else: female drivers. We help them find new employees quickly, easily, and effectively.
Machine learning-based matching algorithm
Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!
Driverhero: Of course, there are many ways to find new employees. For example, through well-known job boards. The problem is that posting a job can be quite inefficient. Companies pay money for a job advertisement, but there is no guarantee of success and it involves a lot of effort. All applications have to be reviewed, suitable candidates filtered out, and interview appointments scheduled. This consumes an enormous amount of time. With Driverhero, it is enough to simply enter the most important requirements for the employee in the job advertisement. Then, thanks to our machine-learning-supported matching algorithm, the delivery company is immediately shown suitable candidates. With one click, the job seeker can be contacted and an interview appointment can be scheduled. It's that simple, fast, and effective.
We've already arranged several hundred job interviews through our platform. We consciously put ourselves on the side of the job seeker when it comes to matchmaking, tailoring our service to their needs. All they have to do is register on Driverhero and enter their requirements for the new job. This takes about five to ten minutes. We believe writing applications belongs to the past century. Thanks to our database, we only match candidates and companies who are truly a good fit. Ultimately, the job seeker can filter out the best job from a selection of different jobs. We're delighted that almost every registered user has already received at least one job offer. This shows that the market is there and that our service is needed. With additional offerings such as the Driverhero Academy and the Driverhero Club, we round out our offerings for our drivers and offer them services such as online training and employee benefits.
Munich Startup: Has there ever been a point where you almost failed?
Driverhero: Fortunately, not yet. However, our company is still quite young, and we are just getting started. We have had a lot of luck so far, whether in finding investors, customer acquisition or new employees. However, we will not rest on our laurels; we will continue to push ahead.
In a year, Driverhero should hopefully be active in every major city
Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?
Driverhero: As a marketplace, the business model works particularly well when there's a lot going on on both the supply and demand sides. Therefore, we plan to launch in other major cities as soon as possible. We'll start with Berlin shortly. Within a year, Driverhero should hopefully be active in every major city. We also see strong demand internationally and plan to expand in the coming years.
Munich Startup: How do you rate Munich as a startup location?
Driverhero: While we can't compare it to other locations in Germany, we believe Munich has pretty much everything a good startup location needs. Be it capital, qualified employees, or a strong startup network. We also live in what we consider to be the most beautiful city in the world.
Munich Startup: Quick exit or long breath?
Driverhero: We firmly believe in the Driverhero idea and plan to work on it for the next few years. We'll see where the journey ultimately takes us.
