Many consumers who switch to milk alternatives do so not only because of the taste, but also because of the better environmental impact compared to cow's milk. However, what bothers many alternative milk drinkers is the packaging. Most plant-based alternatives are sold in beverage cartons. So what can you do if you want to avoid this packaging waste?
Organic Labs: Powder instead of cardboard
In response to this question, the Munich-based startup Organic Labs has developed an oat drink powder that, when combined with water, turns into oat milk. The oat drink powder consists of just one ingredient: organic whole-grain oats. The raw material is processed using a special process to give the powder solubility and sweetness. According to the startup, no additives are used. The packaging for the oat drink powder is also 100 percent recyclable with waste paper.
To finance the first production unit, Organic Labs is currently relying on CrowdfundingThe first funding hurdle of 10,000 euros has already been reached. Supporters can still pre-order the product until August 15 and thereby support the crowdfunding campaign, delivery is scheduled for the end of August. For example, the "Intro Set" includes a pack of organic super oats for four liters of oat drink and a matching glass bottle for mixing or storing for around 13 euros.
