Munich Startup: Who are you and what does E-Mobilio do? Please introduce yourselves briefly!
E-Mobilio: We are Ralph Missy (54) and Denis Reichel (41). We have been working together professionally for 14 years on various projects in and for the automotive industry and on energy efficiency topics. Among other things, eight years ago we established what is now the largest platform for energy efficiency in the building sector.
Booming electromobility market
Munich Startup: What problem does your startup solve?
E-Mobilio: Electromobility is a key pillar for reducing CO2 emissions and thus for climate protection. Furthermore, e-mobility is one of the major boom markets of the coming years. However, a key bottleneck for market development is the technological leap and the resulting overburdening of buyers. Only if this complexity is reduced will the market grow at its full potential.
With E-Mobilio we have a digital 360-degree consulting solution developed with the help of which prospective e-car buyers can quickly and easily configure and order their personal e-mobility package – consisting of e-car, charging solution, installation, subsidies, electricity switch, etc.
Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!
E-Mobilio: As simple and effective as our solution is, our customers say no one else offers anything comparable with the necessary depth and in real time. With both our e-mobilio.de platform and, above all, our white label solution, which is used extensively by car dealerships, for example, we are effectively free of competition.
Three very different challenges for E-Mobilio
Munich Startup: What have been your three biggest challenges so far?
E-Mobilio: Firstly, every single part of the Electromobility has its own complexity, which we had to understand down to the smallest detail. Bringing these various verticals together dynamically, in real time, and coherently as an e-mobility package that meets the individual needs of each customer was very challenging. But this effort has paid off, as we have now created a high level of digital consulting intelligence for e-mobility through our platform that is unparalleled.
Secondly, at the beginning of our journey, our conversations often had a missionary feel, as many of our interlocutors didn't yet believe in the electric mobility market. This was sometimes very exhausting. Of course, with the e-car boom of the last few months, that's changed. Today, it's no longer a question of "if," but rather "how." And that's where E-Mobilio comes in.
Last but not least: The team is everything! This made it all the more challenging for us as a young company to work together in separate offices for the past six months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Especially given our growth, expanding our team, finding, and integrating new employees.
Strategic growth with great potential
Munich Startup: How are things going?
E-Mobilio: Today, we are entirely self-financed, so we can afford to grow strategically. After building the platform, we are currently focusing on our white label solution. After the first two months, we have already acquired 15 car dealership groups, who together sell around 200,000 cars annually. With an electric car market share of currently 21.8 percent, this represents enormous potential for charging solutions, installation services, subsidy advice, energy switching services, etc., which can be commissioned and purchased through E-Mobilio. Furthermore, we already generate licensing revenue for our white label solution in the mid-six-figure range.
Munich Startup: How do you rate Munich as a startup location?
E-Mobilio: For one thing, we both lived in Munich before we founded the company, and our families also live here. On the other hand, Southern Germany has traditionally been a very good location for automotive-related and innovative topics – especially in the field of electromobility. Our professional background also means we have a strong network here. It's 'our place to be.'
Munich Startup: Get up early or stay up all night?
E-Mobilio: Step on the gas – no matter what time.
