Acquisition: Munich-based learning platform Studystuff becomes part of Charly Education

The Berlin-based edtech company Charly Education is acquiring the learning platform Studystuff. The startup Studystuff provides over 100,000 students with current and older lecture notes, summaries, study tips, and past exams. With the acquisition, Charly Education aims to combine the content of both platforms and strengthen its position as the leading learning platform in Germany.

On Charly Education, users can create digital flashcards or contact subject-specific tutors with questions, who will respond via video or image solution. With the acquisition of Studystuff, the Berlin-based Edtech is now expanding the Q&A library launched in February, where students have access to over 75,000 exam-relevant questions and solutions. The content is expanded by users, who can add learning materials independently and thus support each other. With the acquisition of the Munich-based startup, the community now grows to over 500,000 members. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Continue on board as an education consultant

Founder Nicolas Colsman founded Studystuff in 2016 with Daniel Schosser. Students can share their learning materials on the learning platform and search for exam-relevant content based on their university. The company currently claims to have over 100,000 users. Founder Nicolas Colsman will continue to support Charly Education as an education consultant, but plans to focus his professional life on his work as managing director of the non-profit organization Zukunft Digitale Bildung.

Educational equity through innovative learning tools

Cecil von Croÿ, CEO and co-founder of Charly Education, is looking forward to the future collaboration:

"We are very happy that we were able to convince Studystuff of our idea of a holistic learning platform for students. Together, we believe in the great vision of advancing educational equity with innovative learning tools. This year, we have already massively expanded our portfolio with the Q&A Library, Tutor Help, and Learn and Earn, and we want to take these learning tools to a new level with Studystuff. All we can say is: We have a lot planned for this year."

Nicolas Colsman, founder of Studystuff, is convinced of their mutual success:

"We've already seen in the past that Charly Education's philosophy is in tune with the times and fulfills the goal of making learning as easy as possible. I look forward to a long-term collaboration and thank everyone, not only for the past few months, but also for the past years of ongoing exchange. A special thank you goes out to Karl "Charly" Bagusat for everything he's done for me and Studystuff!"
