The 'Open Call 360° Sustainability' challenge defines seven innovation fields in which startups can submit their products and solutions: circular materials, sustainable supply chain, energy-efficient production, mobile intelligence, intelligent building management, customer-centric mobility, and future-proof technologies. There's also the option of a wild card for a topic that doesn't fit into any of these fields.
'Open Call 360° Sustainability' aims to contribute to sustainability at BMW
"We look forward to receiving applications from founders from all over the world. We have long been convinced that startups can help us significantly shape connected, individual, and sustainable mobility,"
says Bernhard Schambeck, Head of BMW Startup Garage. The Innovation department of the Munich car manufacturer evaluates the incoming startup innovations. The selected startups will receive an invitation to a pitch at the end of July. The final winners will be honored in September at the IAA Mobility in Munich. The decisive factor for selection and advancement is the contribution to BMW's sustainability. The award-winning startups will receive access to the BMW Startup Garage Venture Client Program and have the opportunity to become BMW customers.
The BMW Startup Garage is one of four vehicles through which BMW collaborates with startups. In addition to the Venture Client program, the Munich-based company invests in innovative young companies through the BMW i Ventures. Together with the UnternehmerTUM, the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt operates the Accelerator program. Respond, which promotes responsible leadership. The mini-startup accelerator Urban-x has so far collaborated with more than 60 startup companies whose innovations make life in the city better, more pleasant, more comfortable, more sustainable, or more experiential.
