Clinical trials and approval procedures for new drugs have been a topic of public discussion for several months. Climedo provides a platform for digitally handling such clinical data.
The coronavirus crisis has impacted the Munich-based startup in that medical technology companies have used the time to digitize their processes. In addition, according to co-founder and COO Veronika Schweighart An electronic diary previously used in clinical trials was made available to health authorities to track contact persons in their home quarantine:
"This means that they can enter their symptoms digitally at any time, meaning health authorities don't have to make hundreds or thousands of phone calls every day, but can save massive amounts of resources and therefore time."
Schweighart sees an immense digitalization boost in her industry due to Corona:
“Many experts also describe the coronavirus as the catalyst, and especially in digital healthcare, it is said that the coronavirus has catapulted digitalization forward by five years.”
Climedo Health founder wishes for “flexibility, confidence and a certain amount of courage”
At the beginning of the pandemic, the Climedo team consisted of just ten employees, Schweighart says. The startup now employs 30 people. Looking ahead, she says:
“I think flexibility, confidence, and a certain amount of courage are probably the most important qualities we should all take away from the pandemic.”
