In addition to Vector Venture Capital, the Flixbus founders are also involved in the financing for D3 Technologies through their company SEK Ventures, EIT KIC Urban Mobility, SL, and Mutschler Ventures. Munich deeptech startup develops a traffic control system for urban aviation.
With the fresh capital, D3 plans to launch the first pilot application next year, testing its air traffic management solution. In 2022, the company plans to equip the first model regions with ground stations, communications solutions, and vehicle-based technology. The founders expect the first commercial use case involving passenger transport to be launched in 2024. D3 CEO Corvin Huber says:
"For urban air transport to transport passengers, there must be a paradigm shift in air traffic management. Together with D3 Technologies, we are developing a rule-based method for passenger transport over cities and a system architecture that follows the necessary rules and ensures compliance. With the help of our partners, we will lay the foundation for air taxis to take off in 2021."
D3 Technologies “sees the big picture”
Uwe Gerlinger, Managing Director of Vector Venture Capital, says:
"We share the conviction of D3's aviation engineers: In 10 to 15 years, there will be so much traffic over large metropolitan areas that today's defined solutions will not be sufficient. We believe a highly automated traffic management system that enables the aircraft of the future to share a relatively small and congested airspace is necessary. We are investing in D3 because the startup sees the big picture."
