Two Munich residents in the final of the EIT Awards

The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) supports the startup scene with numerous programs. The EU-founded institute also honors particularly innovative entrepreneurs with the annual EIT Award. This year, two Munich residents are among the nominees.

The EIT Awards are presented in five categories. The Change Award recognizes graduates of EIT educational programs who have made a significant contribution to innovation and entrepreneurship. The Innovators Award recognizes innovation teams from the EIT's Knowledge & Innovation Communities (KICs). The Venture Award recognizes startups that have benefited from EIT programs. The Woman Leadership & Entrepreneurship Award recognizes the outstanding work and achievements of an exceptional woman within the EIT community. There is also a People's Choice Award, for which voting will open on November 16.

In all categories except the Audience Award, the winners will receive €50,000 in prize money. The runner-up will receive €20,000, and third place will receive €10,000.

The nominees from Munich

Among those nominated for the Woman Leadership & Entrepreneurship Award is Caroline Albert from Munich, co-CEO and co-founder of Nebumind. Her startup develops software that ensures the quality of components, especially in the aerospace industry. The software solution collects production data from machines and sensors during the manufacture of a component. From this data, it creates a digital twin from which production information can be retrieved for any point. This makes it possible Nebumind possible to optimize production and reduce waste and production costs.

Dominik Radic, who is competing in the Venture Award, also comes from Munich. His startup, Veomo, has developed visualization software for Mobility 4.0 that displays real-time information about available mobility options on large monitors. This allows users to be informed about their mobility options without having to search through a multitude of smartphone apps for the best offer. Veomo It not only offers public transport but also offers car sharing, bike sharing, scooter sharing, ride hailing, and ride sharing, and provides information on current traffic conditions, increased sales volumes, and travel times. In this way, the startup aims to help reduce the need for parking spaces and promote sustainable mobility behavior.

In addition, both nominees will participate in the Audience Award of the EIT Awards, for which Voted from 16 November On December 8, all nominees will pitch online, before the winners are announced at a ceremony the following day.
