A full $8 million – the equivalent of around €6.7 million – will flow into the startup Demodesk, founded in 2017 by Alex Popp and Veronika Riederle, as part of a Series A financing round. Munich are developing a screen-sharing platform that can be used for online sales conversations and virtual meetings. Balderton Capital is leading the financing. Demodesk plans to use the money to further develop its technology, expand its operations, and hire new staff.
Demodesk enables sales talks in Corona times
The startup's product solves problems that are emerging worldwide in the current coronavirus situation: Sales pitches and team meetings have been replaced by virtual meetings. To quickly show something to a counterpart on the screen, screen-sharing solutions like those from Demodesk are needed. So far this year alone, the Startup has already doubled the number of its customers. Among the more than 150 customers are Treatwell, Personio and Forto as well as unnamed corporate customers such as an American solar module dealer and a German furniture store.
The startup's online tool runs in the browser and thus works on many different devices. Users receive real-time support from the system, and appointment scheduling and CRM logging are automated. The tool also offers analytics functions. Interview with Munich Startup Two years ago, the founders summarized the functionality:
"Demodesk enables high-quality screen sharing via a browser, works without installation on any device, and transfers shared content without delay and with significantly increased transfer rates. Furthermore, mouse and keyboard control can be shared with multiple participants, allowing content to be edited collaboratively."
