Repairfix: Platform for damage and accident management

A car accident is annoying enough, but dealing with the other party's insurance company or the repair shop afterward is a real pain. This is exactly where the Munich-based startup Repairfix comes in. The team of four founders is developing a platform designed to simplify damage and accident management.

Munich Startup: Who are you and what do you do?

Repairfix: The four of us Repairfix founders – Moritz Weltgen (CEO), Natalie Kolb (COO), Fabian Pape (CBO) and Alla Kopylova (CPO) – met us during a project in the automotive industry.

Based on our experience in developing and implementing digital business models and insights from the automotive industry, we founded Repairfix in 2019 to revolutionize the automotive aftersales market with digital software solutions. Currently, this is still very analog. And we are convinced that we offer significant added value with digital services to reduce operational fleet and process costs.

Munich Startup: What problem does your startup solve?

Repairfix: With our "Motum" platform, we solve opaque and inefficient processes in claims and service management by connecting all parties in the automotive aftersales market. This allows fleet managers and new mobility providers to exchange information directly with their drivers, teams, and workshops and to coordinate further action. Our AI-supported image recognition provides an additional advantage for claims processing.

During the coronavirus crisis, we also quickly developed a "digital pre-check" for workshops. This allows customers to contactlessly report damage to their car before their first visit, allowing the workshop to better plan the repair process.

How do you gain a foothold in the B2B market?

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Repairfix: You'd think so, but until now, damage and accident management has remained largely analog—much of it is handled via hotlines, emails, or even faxes. Our goal—a unified digital platform that digitally integrates all parties from claim reporting to scheduling—is unique!

Munich Startup: What have been your three biggest challenges so far?

Repairfix: One of the biggest challenges was gaining a foothold in the B2B market. How does a digital startup acquire its first customers and convince them of the product? The great thing about it: our products speak for themselves, and so we were able to quickly acquire the first digitally savvy mobility customers through our network in the automotive market.

Another major challenge was finding the right team. Especially for small startups, it's important that every position is well-staffed and that the team works well together. Since the beginning of the year, we've built a fantastic team, which is continually enriched by dedicated interns.

Repairfix aims to conquer the European market in five years

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?

Repairfix: Our goal for next year is to expand our platform in the DACH region. Given the strong reception our solutions have received in Germany, we would like to offer our software solutions throughout the German-speaking region.

Over the next five years, we plan to expand the services we offer and into other European countries.

Munich Startup: How do you rate Munich as a startup location?

Repairfix: We believe Munich is a great startup location. There are many opportunities and events to meet other innovative startups and network with each other. Our offices are located in community workspaces, of which there are numerous in Munich, so we can exchange experiences with other startups here as well.

Another advantage is that, thanks to the good universities in Munich and the surrounding area, we, as a startup, were able to find committed and ambitious talent relatively quickly.

Munich Startup: Bicycle or e-scooter?

Repairfix: Almost all of our team commute to work by bike. From a Repairfix perspective, we clearly support future mobility providers!
