Wayra and Prosiebensat1 Accelerator among Germany's best innovation units

The business magazine Capital publishes annual rankings of the best German innovation labs. Two Munich-based innovation labs occupy top positions in the rankings.

In the category 'Core Business Innovations - Service', Wayra took second place behind the jointly evaluated units Eurowings Digital & Lufthansa Innovation Hub. Enbw Innovation took third place. Compared to the previous year, the Munich-based Telefónica Accelerator thus improving by one place in the ranking.

The Prosiebensat1 Accelerator even achieved first place in the category 'Innovations outside the core business – Service', ahead of the Lufthansa Innovation Hub and Enbw Innovation. Unterföhringer scored particularly well with the speed of their processes.

The second largest number of innovation units are located in Munich

The study by Capital and Infront Consulting examined 44 innovation units of established companies. Twenty-five percent of the innovation units are located in Berlin, followed by Munich with 14 percent, the Rhine-Ruhr region with 11 percent, and the Rhine-Main area with 10 percent. On average, these units have existed for four years and employ 30 people. The average budget is €5,860,750.
